His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received in audience His Excellency Doctor Qu Dongyu, The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, FAO and delegation. The audience ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman, 23rd April afternoon.

His Excellency is in the country to attend the Ministerial-level session during the 38th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific Regional Conference, APRC held from 23rd to 24th of April 2026. Also in-attendance were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

During the audience ceremony, His Majesty emphasised the importance of innovation and adaptation in addressing climate change, as well as regional cooperation in developing a more sustainable and competitive food sector to achieve self-sufficiency, not only for Brunei Darussalam, but for the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. His Majesty also welcomed cooperation and assistance from the FAO, particularly in the agriculture and aquaculture sectors, in line with efforts to achieve a resilient food sector.
